Revenge - s/t (2013)

Οι καλύτερες στιγμές που έχω ζήσει ακούγοντας αυτή τη μουσική και συμμετέχοντας, με τον ένα ή τον άλλο τρόπο στη σκηνή, είναι όταν εμφανίζονται, τυχαία τις περισσότερες φορές, νέες μπάντες από το πουθενά και μου φτιάχνουν τη μέρα. Οι Σουηδοί Revenge είναι μια από αυτές τις μπάντες.

Το παίξιμο τους θα το χαρακτήριζα μελωδικά επιθετικό old school hardcore/punk! Μη περιμένετε metal ριφς, όγκο στις κιθάρες και τέτοια. Αυτό που παίζουν οι Revenge κινείται καθαρά στην "αθώα" εποχή του hardcore...δηλαδή στα 80'ς.
Τα παλικάρια πρέπει να έχουν ακούσει πολύ Black Flag, Uniform Choice και Minor Threat και δε ντρέπονται (και καλά κάνουν) να το δείξουν με όλους τους τρόπους. Τρανά παραδείγματα το Cheap Wine που άμα μου έλεγε κάποιος πως είναι των Uniform Choice δε θα τον αμφισβητούσα και το Monkey See, Monkey Do όπου λέω, δε μπορεί, από κάπου θα ξεπεταχτεί ο Rollins να κάνει το guest του!

Για να μη παρεξηγηθώ, δε λέω πως οι Revenge απλά μιμούνται...κάθε άλλο, με τον δικό τους τρόπο καταφέρνουν να δημιουργήσουν την αίσθηση εκείνης της εποχής και να μας κάνουν να νοσταλγήσουμε πως θα έπρεπε να είναι το hardcore/punk. Τέτοιες μπάντες υπάρχουν για να δίνουν τον απαραίτητο σεβασμό στις ρίζες μας και να μας κάνουν να μη ξεχνάμε για πιο λόγο υπάρχει το hardcore! Αμα ακούσετε τα Give 'Em The Rope, Revenge, Under Attack και Pressure θα καταλάβετε τι εννοώ...

The best moments I have both as a fan and as an active member in the scene, is when out of the blue, new bands appear out of nowhere and make my day. Revenge from Sweden is one of these bands.

I can describe their music as a melodic yet aggressive old school hardcore/ punk! Beware! Do not expect here metal riffs, fat guitars etc. What Revenge are playing is hardcore as this was played in its ʽʼinnocentʼʼ (pure) age... that is the 80s.

The blokes, must be listening to Black Flag, Uniform Choice and Minor Threat and they are happy to show it unashamedly. To get an idea if someone was telling me that Cheap Wine is the new song from Uniform Choice I would have bitten the cheese, while on Monkey See, Monkey Do I was expecting that at any time Rollins will pop up for his guest appearance.

Do not get me wrong! Revenge are not copycats; on the contrary, they manage their own way to revive the attitude and spirit of these years and manage to remind us how hardcore/ punk should be. Bands such as Revenge are here to pay tribute to the basics of this scene and to give us a reason not to forget the reasons why hardcore is hardcore. Just listen to Give 'Em The Rope, Revenge, Under Attack and Pressure and you will understand what I am talking about....
